Fun with The Next Generation phrases

Maybe you're interested in spicing up your conversations with ST:TNG phrases? Looking for a conversation starter with strangers? Well, I'm here to help you make it so.

  • At the cafe, try: "Tea. Earl Grey. Hot." Feel free to replace the tea choice with something else ("Tea. Orange Pekoe. Hot.").
  • In those instances where you had no choice but to do something, say "resistance was futile".
  • As suggested before, try calling your subordinates (or peers) "Number 1" and "Number 2". For extra fun, call some of your friends "Number 10" or "Number 99" and see if they get the insult.
  • When you're going out to the bar or lounge, refer to it as "Ten forward".
  • If you're going for a drive, just before you start moving, say "Engage!"

That's all I can think of for the moment. I'll add to the list based on your suggestions.

Nice article on how to accentuate your geekiness in 5 steps or less.

You forgot your favourite library java counter utterance "Make it so."

ST:TNG has some of the best ST (although "Damn it Jim I'm a doctor not a " is also quite classic) so can you think of any from the other ST series?

Not sure if it is sad or not that I just realized what ST:TNG stood for... I'm going with not. Sorry guys :)

Another one from TNG: "Come" (as opposed to come in) but you know that.

I'm still figuring out how to incorporate "Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra" into everyday conversation.

Or how about: "I am for you, Alrik of Valt." That line seduced Picard, so it should work on lesser men.
