Old age is fifteen years older than I am.
Good article on TVSquad about some of the bigger discrepancies between a TV character and the actor's real age. The big winner? Estelle Getty who played Sophia on the Golden Girls. She was 69 years old, playing an 86 year old. Most of the other discrepancies are of the reverse kind - old people playing young people. For example, Napoleon's friend Pedro was 31 in real-life, when he played a high-school teenager (15?).
I made a comment on that site about character aging. The author points out that Angel, a forever-26 year old vampire, had started to show his age by the end of the series. Data, the android from Star Trek, also appeared to be aging, despite being robotic. Apparently, the writers of ST saw this problem and devised 'a program to mechanically age' Data. Brent Spiner, the actor who portrayed Data, realized that there was an eventual end to this role since he was 38 when he started playing Data, and 53 by the end of the movies (Wikipedia, 2008).
