A Coke Addict – Prologue

Everyone who knows me, knows I'm a Coca-Cola addict. I've been drinking it for years. My parents had a pop machine on their farm and guess who did all the restocking? So, here's the thing: I don't want to be a coke addict. I've tried to quit countless times and have failed miserably. I quit for 2 weeks while under my Naturopath's guidance and then decided to reward myself by having 1 per week but this soon became 1 per day and then 2-3 per day. February 22nd I decided to quit again and start with a 1 week goal. I met my goal but then rewarded my self by drinking coke that weekend and now I'm back up to 2-3 cans per day. I think part of the problem is that I don't see it as a big problem. I know that it isn't really good for me but it doesn't seem to be so bad and I haven't had any side-effects so it is hard to treat it like a real addiction. And, if I do quit, does that mean I can never have coke again? Isn't that a little extreme?
Keeping this all in mind, I have a new plan and Breakable Crate is involved. I went to the grocery store and bought those little 100 calorie cans of coke. I also bought C2, which has 1/2 the sugar of regular coke. My plan is to have one small can of coke per day until they are gone (there are only 6) and one C2 per day. Once the small cans of coke are gone, I will only have one C2 per day until they are gone (there are 12). So, by the end of the C2 (day 12), I'm hoping to be off coke. We'll see how this works. I'll keep you all posted on my progress and hopefully this will keep me motivated and honest.

I wish you the best of luck S. (Love the pic that goes with the story ... evil little coke gnome pusher). That may be a good approach easing yourself off the habit.
I looking forward to reading the day to days of a recovering coke addict in rehab.
eeeenteresting.
Thanks for the support Jimmy. I haven't been sleeping well and I'm blaming the withdrawal but I'm sticking with it.
I thought we were getting blogged updates!
