Vision, where did you go?
2008 December 13
Went to the optometrist for the first time in probably four years. The bad, but not so surprising news is that my vision has worsened. Enough so that I was warned that I'd be walking around bumping into things when I get the new lenses.
My current cheap-o frames have got to go, though. The plastic is discolouring and flaking.
I came across this optician, Moscot, out of New York (since 1915), that sells these old-style classic frames, and their updated styles. The 'originals' would put you into the world of Mad Men, but the new 'spirit' styles have more modern lines. The Emile style is similar to what I'm wearing now. I want them.

ooooh those are good...I do like the classic look as well.
Welcome to getting old. Your vision will get worse, and then it will get better (weirdly enough) and then it will get worse again. Hooray! Ow! My hip!
Hey, sorry about the eye worsening, but at least you now have a reason to get the cool looking new frames? There you go, something positive
Um...aren't these *the* glasses you're wearing right now? I thought it was an actual photo, of your actual frames.
And, ahem, who was razzing me for being too "safe" in my fashion choices? You're a professional now - I'd say that's reason enough to step outside the comfort zone and go for a little edge!
Pep-talk: If it's not to the point where you have to feel for your glasses, you're good. Trust me. I've lost mine on my own bedside table.
Yes, OK, point taken Kim, even though I did say that they were *similar* to the one's I'm wearing now. The exactness of the match is debatable, so we won't go there.
If and when I have some money, I will go out shopping properly to see what styles might work for me. In the meantime, I encourage you to send me whatever edgy glasses styles you come across.
